Day 14:
Is... is it safe?
Maybe they won't find me here. A short reprieve. It's the job, you know. Workload has increased exponentially. And I don't know what I'm doing.
They're coming for me. I know it. I come in early. I leave late. I take work home with me. I go to bed late. I wake up early. Soon, the candy on the walls and Doritos on the ceiling will be talking to me. Again.
Our house is a disaster. I'm behind on laundry. There are dishes to be done, mopping to be completed, vacuuming. Boxes to sort through, a garage to clean, a bathroom to finish up, computer projects to complete, donations and trades to prep. A toilet that runs more than I do. I haven't run in over a month- I'm so hideously out of shape, and I hesitate to run myself down due to lack of sleep. But I have new running shoes.
They've started talking, too. Taunting, mostly. Sometimes they try to be supportive. But they're new. I think they're just trying to find their niche.
The flowers outside are being nice. They're new, too. Appreciative, I think, of being allowed to have roots in our garden.
They've found me. Files missing. I'm gearing up. It's time.
