A bittersweet haul

So, this weekend my wife and I went down to NC to help my best friend of 20 years and his wife finish clearing their house for their move out of the country. He had told me that he had some books to give me; I hadn't expected what else he found and gave to me, as he was of the mindset that he'd rather his stuff go to his friends if they can use it rather than Goodwill or strangers.
Role Playing Books/Items
* The entire line of Robotech RPG (not counting the new Shadow Chronicles) & Macross RPG books (I had given these to him years ago when I got out of the hobby briefly; these were the books he had mentioned.)
* Battletech Technical Readout 3055 (w/ color inserts)
* (2) Battlemaster minis, (1) Hatchetman mini (Battletech, lead/pewter, from the 80's)
* A small bag of clear polyhedral dice- 18 count
* Heavy Gear RPG, 1st Edition
Video Gaming/PC-related Stuff
* 19" flat-screen CRT monitor (Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930SB)
* (5) DS Games (Sudoku Gridmaster, Platinum Sudoku, Pac N' Roll, Clubhouse Games, Star Wars: Ep3)
* (1) Xbox360 Game: Splinter Cell Double Agent
* (15) Dreamcast games (Jet Grind Radio, Powerstone 2, Rayman 2, Stupid Invaders, Grandia II, Floigan Bros., Donald Duck Goin' Quackers, Crazy Taxi, Evolution, 4 Wheel Thunder, Deep Fighter, Dead or Alive 2, Sonic Adventure 2, San Francisco Rush 2049, Gunbird 2)
*(2) PC games: Descent Freespace, Expendable
* Adobe Premier 5.0
* Falcon Ergonomic Joystick, virtually un-used; this is the relatively new one, that retails for about $150
Music/Video stuff
* Sony NW-S705F 2gb MP3 player, nearly un-used
* The special edition boxed trilogy of Lord of the Rings on DVD
* (2) Justice League Animated DVDs
* CD: Tool- 10,000 Days
* RCA Mp3 'boom box' w/ remote
* 4 VHS tapes- Ren & Stimpy, Shall We Dance? (the original Japanese version), a martial arts instructional video, a Filter video tape
Household Stuff
* (2) nice floorlamps from Ikea
* (4) small bookcase lights from Ikea
* Stonework stand
* Water fountain 'ziggurat' (like those small 'rock garden' types)
* Small photo album
* Cordless Phone- Uniden 2.4Ghz
* (3) 10' extension cords
* 7.2v Black & Decker Cordless Hedge Trimmer
Misc.
* A nice REI backpack, and Red Storm duffel bag
* Jumper cables
* Big bag o' batteries
* Full-size Maglite
* Blackhawk pistol holster
* Blackhawk tactical goggles
* Book: Posefile Reference- Combat Collection
* Power inverter (which I'll probably give to my neighbor)
* Random action figures- a micro-Transformer (Thrust, about 1" tall), several 6" Exosquad: Robotech figures, a couple 3" Robotech figures, (3) "Playskool" Transformer action figures
* Ghostbusters Ecto-1 display model
* (2) each of 25 lb. and 35 lb. free weights
* A pair of kali sticks
* Misc. posters- including a massive subway poster for Sigur Ros, from Europe
* A nice 'starter kit' for Airsoft- gas cans, pellets, etc.
All of which for simply helping them clear out, and the cost of gas to transport them up here to VA. We would've ended up with some nice Optimus brand speakers (I think they were... L300s?) and a subwoofer had we been able to fit them in the Highlander; as is, they ended up at their neighbor's house in NC.
Totally didn't expect that; I think I inventoried it to let it sink in just how much stuff we were given. While I'm of course thankful for it all, if I had to choose between 'stuff' and 'seeing my friends', I can say without hesitation I'd choose the latter.
I'll miss my friends.
