Wow- that was depressing.
Jan. 31st, 2008 07:52 amSo I hit the gym this morning at 6 am. I was all motivated to go, thinking that I'd be back on track. Figured that it'd be best to hit it in the morning, since I stayed at my brother's place last night to watch my niece and nephew, and they live all of 10 minutes from my office.
So, I'm up. I'm out the door. And I start coughing. And not just the 'morning clearing of your throat' kind of cough, no. The "I feel like somebody's scraping a fork across my tonsils" cough. And it won't stop. By the time I get to the parking deck, my eyes are watering from coughing so much, and my gag reflex is starting to kick in.
So I get some water. At this point, I'm no longer motivated. I hit the treadmill for a mile. Do LOTS of crunches and planks. Do the treadmill for another mile. Both times on the treadmill slow.
I could tell I had been away from the gym (I used to go in the morning almost religiously) for some time when other folks who recognized me said, "Wow! Good to see you! Thought you got sent back over (to Iraq) or something!"
Yeah. Been away too long. And it shows.
