So, Friday and Saturday marked our 5th engagement and 8th dating anniversary; we have a small tradition of going to the restaurant where we met for dinner on the 26th (Sweetwater Tavern over in Merrifield); the wait was close to 2 hours though, and her dad was with us (we wanted to get him out of his house), so we moseyed across town to PJ Skidoos and had a good meal.
I got her flowers, and wrote her a poem. We had agreed to not do gifts, but I thought flowers were appropriate. :)
Gave blood Saturday morning- felt woozy during the procedure, prompting much attention from the nursing staff. It's only the 2nd time that it's happened, so it's either 1) using my left arm (a psychological thing, I'm guessing), or 2) not having enough to eat prior to going in. At any rate, they helped me through the nausea and whatnot, and I finished pumping out some O neg. I was going to go gaming, but it was suggested that I rest up and not drive anywhere, so, we went home, rested for a bit, and began to clean house.
We had already started the process of taking down Christmas decorations, but got sidetracked. Our house looks like a warzone, and I'm not exaggerating. It's beginning to irritate me (I'm a bit of a neat freak); I'm thankfully done with school, or I'd be staying late at the office to finsih my studies (I find it difficult to concentrate when my surroundings are in disarray).
As a holdover from Friday night (since we stayed home, ate pizza and watched Saw 4 and Smokin' Aces- both regrettably forgettable films- rather than going out to celebrate), we went to go see 27 Dresses with a couple of friends. While it's not quite on par with, say, Love Actually, it was enjoyable (and, to be honest- Heigl's *really* easy on the eyes. And my wife has a thing for Mardsen. Everybody wins!)
Been playing Mass Effect on the 360- the storyline is good, and I'm especially keen on the notion of an RPG having tactical combat gameplay (using cover, etc.); there's also a LOT of dialogue. A friend of mine had said it was like an interactive audio book, and he's not far wrong. I truly enjoy Bioware's work, though, so that's hardly a strike against it.
Got a call from a recuiter on Saturday; having an informative interview Wednesday with Ameriprise (American Express' financial advisory subsidiary)- it's partially commission based, which is a big strike against it for me (I'd much rather have a flat salary), but I figure it wouldn't hurt to have an idea of what goes on in that line of work.
