samaritan1975: (Under Control)
Apparenly, some assgnome got hold of my credit card details, and made nearly $400 worth of purchases yesterday via Bibit (similar to Paypal, but in Europe, I think?) yesterday (two separate transactions).

Now, I'm pretty careful with my card, but I use it online due to the security features (for one, I'm not liable for fraudulent online charges if I report them within some timeframe). The company was really on the ball, I gotta say- they called me to let me know "Hey, you know, we think something's odd about these two charges."

So, the card's cancelled and a new one on its way, but still. Pisses me off. It's not 'my money', per se, but it's *somebody's*. And somebody who didn't earn it is using it.

I wonder if Bibit's able to track and see 'hey, we can find the transactions equating to those amounts, and it's Joe Q. Fuckstick living in BFE.'

I should note that I haven't had this happen before... I recently downloaded some songs from Amazon.com and Napster, but I've done both before. I don't use my card for 'questionable' websites of any kind (sticking to a very few).
